Traveling from bangkok to pattaya by bus is by far the most convenient and cost effect way to travel to Pattaya. Its best to choose a 1st class Air-conditioned bus departing from Bangkok which cost approx 131 baht (USD4.50) and usually take 2.5 to 3 hours to arrive. There is a blue coach class for 20 baht cheaper but these can take much longer to arrive. Departing from Ekamai is an easy point to embark from within Bangkok. But you can also join the bus services from Mo Chit. Alternatively if you can join the bus at Suvarnabhumi Airport its much faster as you are skipping the Bangkok traffic and you also have the option for direct transfer to a Pattaya Hotel serviced by Bell Travel Service at reasonable fare.

The 7 highway links directly to Bangkok’s Outer Ring Road (The 9 Highway) and since this section of road became tolled, the congestion is managed better. The most common entrances to the highway can be found at Si Nakharin and Rama IX Junctions.

Suvarnabhumi Bangkok International Airport (2hrs Away)
Suvarnabhumi Bangkok Airport only 110 km from bangkok to pattaya. This make transfers by road fairly in expensive and quite fast. The 7 Highway makes for an easy and direct route. There are licenced taxi services from the airport. The one-way fares are around 1,200 Baht excluding approx 60 Baht for toll fees. (New Tolls stations are opening soon so this might rise) Travel time is about 1 hour and 45 minutes to Pattaya.
U-Tapao Airport (45min Away)
U-Tapao Airport, sometimes referred to as Pattaya Airport, is located 30km south of Pattaya, and is only about 45 minutes drive away from Pattaya. This was mainly a military facility but has opened as an international Airport in recent years for many Budget Airlines and International Flights.
Don Muang Airport (3hrs Away)
Don Muang Airport was the original International Bangkok Airport before the new Suvarnabhumi Bangkok international Airport was built. Don Muang handles many budget airlines such as Nok Air, One-Two-GO, PB Air and most Thai Airways domestic flights. Travelling by taxi is the easiest way from bangkok to pattaya or go by bus from Mo Chit via bus shuttle service from outside the airport.
